Stage 3: Brixen - St.Vigil
|Distance:||89,18 km||Altitude difference:||2.237 Hm||Level:|
The easier stage on day three spares the reserves for the upcoming, more demanding days. Landscape-wise this section pulls out all the stops. After all, it leads over the Grödnerjoch past the powerful massif of Sella, the core of the Dolomites. The route leads over the Grödnerjoch for the first time at Transalp in this direction, coming from the Grödnertal. There the route goes on new, exciting sidestreets at the slope of the Eisacktal. From the entrance of the Vilnößtal a small street leads over Gufidaun and Lajen across the Val Gardena. Then through St. Ulrich, home of the mountain legend Luis Trenker, St. Christina and Wolkenstein, past the wide north slope of the Langkofel up to the Grödnerjoch, that has some unique moments for friends of cultivated mountain panoramas. The Kreuzkofel, “hiding” the finish in St. Vigil, leads the way through the Gadertal, that you will ride through in its entire length apart of a brief final ascent from Zwischenwasser.
